Panthers' Paul Maurice Jokes Hurricanes' Empty-Net Goals Were 'Horses--t' in G4 Loss
Florida Panthers coach Paul Maurice had some choice words for the Carolina Hurricanes’ final two open-net goals of the game.
“I didn’t like the last two (goals) at all. That gap was horses--t,” Maurice joked after pulling his goalie in the final minutes, which resulted in two goals.

Florida pulled goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky—who made 25 saves—to add an extra attacker in the final minutes in hopes of tying the game, but the move backfired as Carolina capitalized with two more goals.
The Panthers had a chance to sweep the Hurricanes in Game 4 but struggled to generate offense, trailing 1-0 just past the halfway mark of the second period.
“First one was a hell of a shot and he made two or three other real big saves,” Maurice said. “It was not a real high-event game around the net.”
Carolina center Logan Stankoven opened the scoring with an impressive snap shot and two empty-net goals—combined with a lack of offensive production from the Panthers—sealed the win for the Hurricanes.
