Connor McDavid Scores 2 Goals, Electrifies NHL Fans as Oilers Rout Stars in Game 3
The Edmonton Oilers are two wins away from reaching their second consecutive Stanley Cup Final.
Edmonton defeated the Dallas Stars 6-1 in Game 3 of the Western Conference Final on Sunday at Rogers Place to take a 2-1 lead in the series. It has now won two in a row and has an opportunity to seize full control if it continues to play well on home ice.
Connor McDavid led the way as he so often does with two goals, while Zach Hyman also found the back of the net twice. Throw in goals from Evan Bouchard and John Klingberg, and that was more than enough support for goaltender Stuart Skinner, who stopped 36 of the 37 shots he faced.

A goal from Jason Robertson was the only bright spot for the Stars, especially as goaltender Jake Oettinger struggled in defeat.
Stopping McDavid is much easier said than done, and social media had plenty of praise for the Oilers star:
The Oilers had all the momentum entering play after they stole home-ice advantage with a Game 2 win, and they wasted no time setting the tone once again in Game 3.
Bouchard ripped a quick slap shot right into the back of the net to start the scoring in the first period before McDavid took advantage of a three-on-one opportunity with the second goal just 36 seconds later. It was an offensive onslaught that sent the crowd into a frenzy in less than a minute and gave Skinner some breathing room.
But that breathing room didn't last long.
Dallas turned away multiple Oilers power plays in the second period to stay within striking distance before Robertson cut the deficit in half. Skinner was excellent for much of the period as the Stars continued to create offensive chances, but he was screened just enough to give up the goal.
It also nearly gave the visitors plenty of momentum heading into the final period, especially since they were the ones creating more chances. Yet it only takes a moment to change everything, and McDavid delivered another one in the closing seconds of the second period with his second goal.
Just like that, all of Dallas' impressive work evaporated before the final 20 minutes.
Things got even worse for the Stars early in the third period when Hyman found himself all alone and beat Jake Oettinger for Edmonton's fourth goal. Hyman added another just for good measure, removing any doubt about the outcome well before Klingberg's goal.
The Oilers will now turn their attention to Tuesday's Game 4 and a chance to move one win away from the sport's biggest stage.
