Deion Sanders Warns Colorado Players, Staff Not to Risk Future amid Holiday Weekend

Adam WellsMay 25, 2025

Even though the 2025 college football season is about three months away from starting, Deion Sanders is still providing life lessons to Colorado players and staff members for the Memorial Day weekend.

In a post on X, Sanders took time to remind the Buffaloes to stay safe and "don’t do anything to jeopardize your opportunity to be a Professional."

Coach Prime is no stranger to sharing words of wisdom on social media. He's built an entire platform around it, so this is perfectly in keeping with his brand.

This message could signal that Sanders is itching to get back to work soon. He did write that he loves and misses Colorado's players and staff. The Buffaloes haven't held any formal football activities since their spring game on April 19.

The 2025 season is going to be one of a great change in Boulder. Sanders will not have his son, Shedeur, as his quarterback for the first time since 2016 when he was coaching at Triple A Academy in Texas.

Colorado will also be without Heisman winner Travis Hunter. Both Shedeur and Hunter are in the NFL after spending the last two years with the Buffaloes.

Kaidon Salter and Julian Lewis split reps at quarterback during the spring game. Neither one looked great and took control of the job, going a combined 21-of-37 for 142 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

The Buffaloes' first game of the 2025 season will take place on Aug. 29 against Georgia Tech at Folsom Field.
