Alabama's Keelon Russell Gifts Mom New Mercedes-Benz Ahead of Freshman Season
Since the start of the NIL era, there have been plenty of criticisms and complaints, but players getting paid has also made for some special moments.
Alabama quarterback Keelon Russell was a part of one of those special moments on Tuesday when he gifted his mother a new Mercedes-Benz ahead of his freshman season.
Russell posted a picture of his mom's new car on his Instagram story, saying he's “blessed to make her happy."
Of note, Russell has an NIL valuation of $1.3 million, per On3.
Russell, a Duncanville, Texas, native, is the No. 2 overall player and No. 2 quarterback in the Class of 2025, according to 247Sports' Composite rankings. He picked the Crimson Tide over SMU, Ole Miss and plenty of other programs.
As he starts his career in Tuscaloosa, he'll compete with Ty Simpson and Austin Mack to try to earn the starting job under center. Russell might have a tough time earning QB1 as a freshman, but he should nonetheless be on his way to a fruitful career.
