White Sox's Luis Robert Jr. Says Teams Wouldn't 'Take A Chance' On Trade Amid Woes
Chicago White Sox outfielder Luis Robert Jr. doesn't believe teams would take a chance on him prior to the MLB trade deadline given how his season is going, per Scott Merkin of MLB.com.
The 27-year-old Robert is hitting just .186 (.589 OPS) with five home runs and 17 RBI through 44 games.

In 2023, Robert enjoyed a fantastic season, hitting 38 home runs along with 80 RBI. He posted an .857 OPS along with 20 stolen bases and 90 runs in his lone All-Star campaign. Naturally, hopes were high about his future in town, but Robert has struggled ever since. In 2024, he hit .224 (.657 OPS) with 14 home runs and 35 RBI in 100 games after missing two months early on with a right hip flexor strain.
Now the 2025 season has been an even bigger struggle. His 17 stolen bases do lead the major leagues, but Robert also has more strikeouts (52) than hits and walks combined (50).
Robert is on a six-year, $50 million contract that has team options for 2026 and 2027, so it's not inconceivable to see a club take a chance here, given that the outfielder could be under team control for the next two-plus years.
However, Robert's decline has been so steep that teams may not take that chance here. He's certainly capable of far better play, but at the moment, Robert's simply underperforming so much that he may not land on another team this season as his current one struggles this year with a 14-34 record.
