NFL Vote on 'Tush Push' Rule Change Reportedly Expected to Be 'Pretty Close'
The most debated play in the NFL over the past three years could be on the verge of being banned.
According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler on SportsCenter, the vote from NFL owners to ban the tush push is expected to be "pretty close" with approval needed from 24 of the 32 owners to pass.

The proposal to ban the play was originally made by the Green Bay Packers at the owners' meetings in March, but a vote was tabled while team officials continued to discuss the play.
A revised proposal submitted by the Packers on Monday emphasized that they are attempting to ban pushing, pulling, lifting or assisting the ball-carrier in any way other than blocking a defender.
The Packers' original proposal came two months after they lost 22-10 to the Eagles in the NFC Wild Card round. The Eagles only ran the tush push once in that game, but it came on a crucial fourth-and-1 early in the fourth when they were leading 16-10 after Green Bay scored a touchdown on its previous drive.
Jalen Hurts' conversion allowed the Eagles to extend a drive that took more than seven minutes off the game clock and ended with Jake Elliott's 30-yard field goal to make the score 19-10.
Green Bay's revision cites "pace of play" as one of the reasons for the proposal. The Eagles led the NFL in time of possession per game last season (32:21). No other team averaged more than 32 minutes of possession.
Per ESPN research (h/t ESPN's Brooke Pryor), the Philadelphia Eagles and Buffalo Bills have run the play a total of 183 times over the past three seasons, more than the other 30 teams combined during that span.
Pryor also noted the Eagles and Bills were the most successful teams running the tush push, converting it into a first down or touchdown 87 percent of the time. The rest of the league had a 71 percent success rate.
