Asante Samuel Jr. Reportedly Eyed by Dolphins amid Jalen Ramsey Trade Rumors
As the Miami Dolphins continue to explore trade options involving Jalen Ramsey, they are looking at potential veteran cornerbacks who might be able to fill his role if a deal comes together.
Per Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, the Dolphins have reached out to Asante Samuel Jr. as a potential addition to their secondary.
Jackson noted there has been no formal offer made to Samuel, but they "have conveyed interest and said they want to keep tabs on his recovery from neck surgery and want to remain in touch."

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Samuel entered the offseason regarded as a low-risk, high-reward free agent coming off an injury-plagued 2024 in which he played just four games for the Los Angeles Chargers.
Amid confusion and speculation about the nature of the injury, Samuel clarified in January he suffered a stinger and shoulder injury from a collision in practice. He also said it was an issue he has dealt with since he was born, but didn't offer more specific information in that regard.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported on May 12 that Samuel, who met with the New Orleans Saints that same day, underwent neck surgery in April and was waiting to sign with a team until he undergoes a check-up in July.
Fowler noted there are expected to be "several interested" suitors for Samuel when he does decide to start taking more in-depth meetings.
Dolphins general manager Chris Grier told reporters last month they were going to "move forward" with trade talks for Ramsey, though he also made clear the veteran cornerback did not request a trade.
If Ramsey does get traded, it will almost certainly come after June 1 otherwise the Dolphins will take on a $25.2 million dead-cap charge for this season. That number goes down to $6.7 million with $9.9 million in cap savings after June 1.
A second-round draft pick by the Chargers in 2021, Samuel has started 47 of the 50 games he has played over the past four seasons. The 25-year-old recorded at least 11 pass breakups and two interceptions in each of his first three years.
