Who Should Go No. 1 at This Year's Draft? 🤔
The Stars will now advance to take on the Oilers with a trip to the Stanley Cup Final on the line.
Who will be taking on the Carolina Hurricanes in the Eastern Conference Finals has yet to be determined.
Here's a look at the upcoming schedule, as well as Saturday night's highlights from Dallas.
Upcoming Playoff Schedule
Sunday, May 18: Florida Panthers at Toronto Maple Leafs, 7:30 p.m. ET (Series tied 3-3)
Saturday night got off to a frustrating start for the Stars as Tyler Seguin missed out on an open-net scoring chance midway through the first period.
Vezina candidate Connor Hellebuyck shut down a flurry from the Stars to keep the game scoreless through 20 minutes.
In the second period, Mark Scheifele put the Jets on the board with his first road goal of the playoffs.
Scheifele was playing hours after receiving the news of the death of his father, Brad.
Jets head coach Scott Arniel told reporters before the game that Scheifele said playing in Game 6 would have been what his father wanted.
Sam Steel answered for the Stars six minutes later by tying the game with his first goal of the postseason.
Hellebuyck stretched out to rob Mikko Rantanen on a point-blank chance early in the third period.
Starts netminder Jake Oettinger then put up a save of the year candidate as he dove across the net to turn aside a shot from Mason Appleton.
Steel drew a penalty with 14.8 seconds left in the tied game, allowing the Stars to start out overtime on the man advantage.
Harley took advantage of the opportunity to hammer home a shot from the slot 1:33 into extra time.
The Jets finished out the loss without Josh Morrissey, who exited the game in the second period after a collision with Mikko Rantanen.
The Stars have gone to three straight conference finals without ever playing for the Stanley Cup. Dallas will hope the deadline addition of Rantanen is enough to change that pattern in the upcoming rematch with the Oilers.
