Twins' Carlos Correa Placed on Concussion IL After Injury on Collision with Buxton
The Minnesota Twins will be without shortstop Carlos Correa for the foreseeable future.
The Twins announced Friday that they had placed Correa on the seven-day concussion injured list for a collision that happened in Thursday's 4-0 victory over the Baltimore Orioles.

The collision happened in the third inning and was with Twins center fielder Byron Buxton. Correa exited the game following the play.
Correa is hitting .236/.274/.331 with two home runs and 13 RBIs in 41 games thus far in 2024. He has played the entirety of the season at shortstop and his absence should create a hole in the Twins' infield.
Second baseman Brooks Lee shifted over to shortstop in Correa's absence and should be a contender to hold the position until he returns to the lineup. In a corresponding move, the team also called up infielder Ryan Fitzgerald from Triple-A St. Paul.
The Twins are currently 24-20 and sit in fourth place in the AL Central. Correa will be eligible to return to the lineup on Friday May 23 against the Kansas City Royals.
