Caitlin Clark Says 'Not Everything's Going to Be Perfect' in Fever's Season Opener
Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark noted to reporters that "not everything's going to be perfect" to start as her team, which features many new faces this season, gears up for its 2025 opener against the Chicago Sky at home on Saturday.
Clark's remarks were amid comments about her second year in the league before she talked looking forward to the beginning of this season from a team perspective.

"Well, I think I've just been waiting to play basketball for a really long time now, Clark began.
"You go through the preseason games, you go through a lot of training camp. It's been a few weeks now. I think you're just itching to get out there and really play, like a real game, that's going to count towards your record.
"But, I mean, I feel like I have a better understanding of how everything works, a better understanding of what to expect when you get in the game, when you get in these environments, you know, I've probably played in this arena for a year now, so I think just relying on the experience of playing here for a year, but also, like, this is going to be this team's first time playing together too.
"So there's going to be a learning curve there and a challenge that's presented and not everything's going to be perfect. It's just got to play through it, play through the mistakes. That's what Coach Steph talks about all the time. So, you know, just learn and go out there and compete and get the win.
This is a new-look Fever team that has a new head coach (Stephanie White, formerly of the Connecticut Sun), two new starters (DeWanna Bonner and Natasha Howard) and a few new key players in the rotations (e.g. Sydney Colson, Sophie Cunningham, Brianna Turner and Jaelyn Brown).
So it might take some time for Indiana to figure it all out given all the new faces, even though this team looks quite talented on paper
As for Clark, she enjoyed a tremendous rookie year that ended with her earning All-WNBA First Team honors after averaging 19.2 points, 8.4 assists and 5.7 rebounds per game. The Fever made the playoffs as a No. 6 seed with a 20-20 record after going 13-27 the year before.
Understandably, these are exciting times in Indianapolis as the Fever gear up for the 2025 campaign. Tipoff for this season is scheduled Saturday for 3 p.m. ET.
