The Carolina Hurricanes became the second team to clinch their spot in the conference final round of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs on Thursday.

Carolina picked up a 3-1 road win to beat the Washington Capitals 4-1 in the second round.

Carolina will participate in its second Eastern Conference Final in three years and it could face the Florida Panthers in a rematch of the 2023 ECF if the Panthers win one more game.

The Dallas Stars failed to join Carolina in the next round. Winnipeg picked up a second straight home shutout to win Game 5 and force a Game 6 on Saturday.

Upcoming Schedule

Game 6: Toronto at Florida (Friday, 8 p.m. ET)

Game 6: Winnipeg at Dallas (Saturday, 8 p.m. ET)

Carolina Hurricanes v Washington Capitals - Game Five

Andrei Svechnikov clinched Carolina's spot in the Eastern Conference Final with a late third-period goal.

Svechnikov's eighth goal of the postseason broke a 45-minute deadlock in Washington D.C.

Carolina opened the scoring through Jordan Staal.

Washington answered five minute slater with a tally from Anthony Beauvillier.

The Beauvillier goal was the only shot that beat Carolina goalie Frederik Andersen, who finished with 18 saves. He allowed less than two goals in every game of the second-round series.

Carolina now awaits the winner of the Florida-Toronto series in the Eastern Conference Final. Game 6 between the Panthers and Leafs takes place on Friday.

Dallas Stars v Winnipeg Jets - Game Five

Winnipeg moved to 6-1 at home this postseason with a shutout win over Dallas.

The Jets got a bit lucky on their opening goal, as Mark Scheifele's shot banked off Dallas' Thomas Harley.

Winnipeg broke Game 5 wide open in the third period.

Nikolai Ehlers scored on the power play two minutes and 20 seconds in the third period.

Vladislav Namestikov scored 10 minutes later to extend the advantage to three.

Ehlers scored again on an empty net to move his postseason goal tally to five.

Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck turned away 22 Dallas shots to record his second straight home shutout.

The series heads back to Dallas on Saturday, where the Stars won Games 3 and 4 and scored eight goals in the process.
