Matthew Stafford Says He's Been 'Lucky' with WRs in His Career and Hypes Davante Adams
Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford was long an admirer of Davante Adams' game before the wide receiver wound up in L.A.
"Obviously played against him in the [NFC North], have been a fan of his from afar on the other sideline for a long time, and what he's been able to do in the league kind of speaks for itself," Stafford said Wednesday on NFL Network (via Nick Shook of NFL.com). "But then getting to be around him personally every day, working with him, throwing to him, just seeing the kind of professional that he is, he fits right in.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
"That's the kind of guys since I've been here in L.A. we've had, I've been lucky enough to throw to a bunch of guys that take the game seriously, love going out and competing and trying to find a way to get better. He's no different, and we're definitely excited to have him and I know for me as a quarterback I feel lucky for all the guys I've been able to throw to, and he's definitely up there."
Stafford has crossed paths with a lot of standout pass-catchers over the years. Calvin Johnson is a Hall of Famer. Cooper Kupp, Puka Nacua, Anquan Boldin, Odell Beckham Jr. and Golden Tate have all reached the Pro Bowl.
A six-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro, Adams is one of the most decorated to share a locker room with Stafford. How much he has left in the tank is open for some debate, though.
The 32-year-old averaged 75.9 receiving yards per game with the Las Vegas Raiders and New York Jets in 2024. While that was an improvement from 2023, it was below what he regularly delivered at his peak when playing for the Green Bay Packers.
Declines can come quickly for receivers who are in their 30s, and Adams may not be immune to his trend.
Granted, the Rams might not need him to be that kind of wideout since he's joining a passing attack that includes Nacua.
Putting Adams in a Sean McVay offense with Stafford under center should be a recipe for success. The early impressions from Stafford will only get Rams fans more excited for what's to come.
