Bill Belichick Says Jordon Hudson 'Doesn't Have Anything to Do With UNC Football'
Bill Belichick is pushing back against implications that his girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, is involved in his professional life as the head football coach at North Carolina.
Speaking to ESPN's Christine Williamson on SportsCenter at the ACC meetings on Tuesday, Belichick explained that Hudson "doesn't have anything to do with UNC football" when asked how their relationship impacts his ability to coach the team:
"That's really off to the side. It's a personal relationship, and she doesn't have anything to do with UNC football. I'm excited to be back in the coaches meetings and getting ready for, you know, June. And then August, we got the training camp. So June will be a big recruiting month for us, and then August, we'll start getting ready for the season."
There have been conflicting stories recently about Hudson's involvement at North Carolina.
On April 15, Matt Baker of The Athletic reported that Belichick had requested a university administrator to copy Hudson on certain emails. Baker added that Hudson provided certain directives to the Tar Heels' media team to "raise awareness" to depict Steve Belichick, Bill's son and UNC defensive coordinator, "as his own established, credible entity as opposed to an extension of Bill."
Baker added Hudson's involvement was "minimal," with one exception when she asked in a February email why officials weren't doing a better job of "monitoring the UNC Football page for slanderous commentary and subsequently deleting it / blocking users" harassing Belichick in the comments.
Hudson's role in Belichick's professional life received added scrutiny when she got involved in an interview he did with CBS Sunday Mornings on April 27 to promote his book.
While that didn't directly involve the Tar Heels football program, Pablo Torre of Meadowlark Media reported on May 9 that Hudson had been banned from UNC's football facilities.
The university released a statement that same day denying any such ban is in place and Hudson is "welcome to the Carolina football activities."
Torre's report noted members of Belichick's family have expressed "deep worry for how detrimental Jordon can be for not just North Carolina but Bill's legacy, reputation—everything he has built and worked for over decades."
Belichick and Hudson originally met in 2021 and are believed to have started dating at some point in 2023.
North Carolina hired Belichick as its head football coach on Dec. 11. This will mark his first stint coaching at the college level. Prior to taking the Tar Heels' job, he spent 49 years in the NFL from 1975 to 2023.
