Giannis' Top Priority Reportedly Revealed amid NBA Trade Rumors Ahead of Draft Lottery

Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo's top priority for a potential change of scenery on the trade market was revealed by ESPN's Shams Charania on Monday.

"He has said repeatedly what he wants out of his career is to be in the best, long-term sustained winning environment and I'm told that's going to be at the forefront of everything he's going to be thinking about this offseason," Charania reported during an appearance on First Take (1:28 mark).

Charania previously reported that Antetokounmpo is "open-minded about exploring whether his best long-term fit is remaining in Milwaukee or playing elsewhere" for the "first time in his career."

The two-time MVP's preference to play for a sustained winner is also a reflection on the Bucks, as they haven't even advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals in the four years since their 2021 championship.

They've also suffered three consecutive first-round playoff exits, which included a five-game defeat at the hands of the Indiana Pacers to end their 2024-25 campaign.

Monday's 2025 NBA draft lottery could affect the possibility of Milwaukee exploring trades for Antetokounmpo, as teams moving up in the draft order can offer a stronger package in return for the nine-time All-Star.

ESPN's Brian Windhorst listed the San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets, Brooklyn Nets and New Orleans Pelicans as teams that could be a fit for Antetokounmpo.

All four teams currently have lottery picks and could immediately become stronger threats to land Antetokounmpo if they move up to the No. 1 overall pick and aren't interested in drafting Cooper Flagg, the likely top choice.

While none of the teams have been consistent playoff contenders over the past five years, the Rockets are coming off a 52-30 season and have several promising young prospects, including Amen Thompson and Alperen Şengün.

The 2025 NBA draft lottery is on Monday at 7 p.m. ET.
