Unshakable' Justin Fields Hyped by New Jets HC Aaron Glenn, 'Works His Butt Off'
New York Jets quarterback Justin Fields has already made a strong impression on head coach Aaron Glenn.
Glenn called Fields' confidence "unshakable" on Saturday, per Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic.
“Even though he’s not the most vocal person, he’s active with his body language,” Glenn said. “He’s active with his one-on-one conversations. If he has to stand in front of the guys and say something, he will. He won’t talk just to talk, because sometimes when you do that players around you can get deadhead. But he says things when it needs to be said. He’s a really good athlete, he works his butt off in the weight room. He’s another guy that’s doing everything he can to improve. And whatever advantage he can get from coaching, strength and conditioning, being on the field, he’s going to take that advantage and run with it. I’m happy with where he’s at.”

Both men are entering their first year in their respective roles on the team, as the Jets hired Glenn as head coach on Jan. 22 and signed Fields to a two-year contract worth $40 million in free agency.
While the quarterback is only 26 years old, he's expected to serve as a leader on a young New York team. The Jets only have four players older than 30 on their roster (h/t Rosenblatt).
Fields spent the 2024 season on the Pittsburgh Steelers, starting the first six games of the year as Russell Wilson dealt with a calf injury. He finished with a record of 4-2 as a starter, making 10 total appearances with the team.
He completed 65.8 percent of his throws for 1,106 yards and five touchdowns compared to one interception. Fields also rushed for 289 yards and five scores.
The former first-round pick will attempt to provide a boost to a Jets offense that struggled in 2024, as they were one of nine teams to average below 20 points per game on the season.
While New York attempts to end the NFL's longest active playoff drought in 2025, it's a promising sign that Fields and Glenn are already on the same page before the start of training camp.
