At the very least, we know the new pope is a Chicago White Sox fan. It's safe to assume he has a similar affinity for the city's representatives in other major sports leagues.
Bears fans have spent decades appealing to higher powers in the hope of seeing another Super Bowl triumph. Now, one of their own has a direct line to the big man upstairs.
Does this also mean sweater vests will be added to the pope's wardrobe?
As if general manager Ryan Poles wasn't already enough pressure, will he be rebuked by the supreme pontiff if the Bears' revamped offensive line doesn't protect Williams any better?
Ultimately, the pope has to love all of his followers equally, even if they reside in Detroit, Minneapolis or Green Bay, Wisconsin. That doesn't need to prevent him from having rooting interests on the gridiron, though.
