Micah Parsons, Cowboys Reportedly Haven't Made 'Movement' on Contract amid NFL Rumors
The Dallas Cowboys generated headlines by acquiring wide receiver George Pickens from the Pittsburgh Steelers on Wednesday, but they reportedly haven't made much progress toward rewarding one of their incumbent stars with a new deal.
According to Clarence Hill Jr. of All City DLLS, "there has been no movement forward" for the Cowboys regarding a potential contract extension for star edge-rusher Micah Parsons.
Parsons is set to make $24 million this season on the fifth-year option of his rookie contract. As a Pro Bowl selection in each of his first four years in the NFL, he's done more than enough to earn a huge payday, though the market has shifted this offseason.

Cleveland Browns star Myles Garrett set the mark for defensive ends by agreeing to a contract extension this offseason with an average annual salary of $40 million. It's almost guaranteed that the Cowboys will have to exceed that figure if they want to retain Parsons on a long-term deal.
The Dallas Morning News reported that Parsons and team owner Jerry Jones "have met and had extensive talks about his contract." However, Jones reportedly has not met with Parsons' agent, David Mulugheta, and he "ruffled some feathers at the NFL’s annual meetings when he made a point—more than once—of saying he doesn’t even know the name of Parsons’ agent."
For his part, Parsons already showed good faith by reporting for voluntary workouts on time last month. However, he made it clear that he wants a new deal before the start of training camp.
"Extremely important," Parsons said on April 23 of getting his contract done before training camp. "You really see a lot of players struggle when guys aren’t participating in camp, and they get off to slow starts. I don’t want to get off to no slow start. I want to hit the ground running."
