Jets' Allen Lazard Reportedly 'In Play' for Steelers Trade amid Aaron Rodgers Rumors
The Pittsburgh Steelers are still waiting for veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers to decide whether he will be playing for them in 2025, but they reportedly are looking at the possibility of bringing in one of his former teammates.
Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reported that New York Jets wide receiver Allen Lazard is "in play" to be traded to the Steelers. Lazard played with Rodgers both with the Jets and the Green Bay Packers.

The Steelers suddenly need a No. 2 wide receiver afterย tradingย wideout George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys on Wednesday morning. Lazard isn't necessarily the most attractive name on the market, but Florio explained that his familiarity with Rodgers makes him a viable target for Pittsburgh.
"Why Lazard? Because Rodgers completely and totally trusts him. And Lazard, for whatever reason, performs much better with Rodgers than he does without him," Florio stated.
Lazard finished the 2024 season with 37 catches for 530 yards and six touchdowns. While it appeared that the Jets would try to cut or trade him this offseason, he surprisingly agreed to a pay cut in his 2025 salary from $11 million to $2.5 million, opening up the possibility that he would remain in New York for another year.
Still, Rodgers' potential arrival in Pittsburgh likely would motivate the Steelers to add someone he's comfortable with to a passing attack that is currently led by star receiver DK Metcalf, who was acquired in an offseason trade with the Seattle Seahawks.
The 41-year-old has not been in a rush to end his free agency, but with Pittsburgh being his only viable landing spot, many around the league feel that it's inevitable that he'll be wearing the black and gold in 2025. Once that becomes official, it sounds like Lazard will be teaming up with him for a third time.
