Giants' Kayvon Thibodeaux 'Super Excited' About Abdul Carter's Addition to Pass Rush
Kayvon Thibodeaux is thrilled to have another elite pass rusher on the New York Giants' defensive front after the team selected Penn State star Abdul Carter with the third pick in the NFL draft.
The addition of Carter could hurt Thibodeaux's chances to get a big payday from the Giants when his contract ends, but he's nonetheless looking forward to what the season holds.
"It's another step. For me, it's just more fuel," Thibodeaux said, per ESPN's Jordan Raanan. "Definitely blessed and humbled to be in a position to have another year in the league. Coming up on that [career] average, I think it's 3.5 [years]. You play that fourth season and I think you're in good company. I'm super blessed, super excited, energized. We have a great team and we'll go do some good things."

There was speculation that the Giants would try to trade Thibodeaux this offseason to prepare for the arrival of Carter, but the team exercised his $14.751 million fifth-year option, meaning he'll be in New York through the 2026 season.
In his third season, Thibodeaux recorded 28 tackles and 5.5 sacks in 12 games. He'll look to have another big season alongside Carter, who was the No. 2 overall player on the final big board from Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department.
