Dodgers' Teoscar Hernandez Will Be Placed on IL With Groin Injury
The Los Angeles Dodgers will have to make due without a key outfielder for a handful of games.
Teoscar Hernández is going on the 10-day injured list. The veteran outfielder suffered a groin injury in Monday's 7-4 win over the Miami Marlins.

Hernández reported tightness after chasing down a line drive in the third inning. Manager Dave Roberts said he suspected right away that it could have been an adductor injury.
“I got word that it was tight — whether it was a hamstring, abductor,” Roberts told reporters. “He’s a guy that just doesn’t come out of games by way of injury. That’s a little concerning, given the person.”
Roberts also said after the game that there was a good chance the team would bring up some players from the minors if Hernández were to land on the injured list. The Dodgers called up JP Feyereisen, James Outman and Landon Knack from Triple-A Oklahoma City. Outman, an outfielder, will presumably replace Hernández for the time being.
Hernández, 32, is enjoying a fantastic start to his 10th MLB season. Through 33 games, he's hit nine home runs and an MLB-best 34 RBI, also collecting a .315 batting average and a .933 OPS. He's coming off a season in which he hit 33 home runs and 99 RBI while helping the Dodgers win the World Series.
The strong start to the year will now come to a halt as Hernández looks to make his way back from the injury.
"Obviously, he's going to be inactive for a while," Roberts said, per MLB.com's Sonja Chen. "I don't really know a timetable. I think that's all contingent on when he starts back up again."
The Dodgers will now look to Outman to hold things down in the outfield while Hernández rehabs. Outman, 27, appeared in 53 games for Los Angeles a year ago, hitting four home runs and 11 RBI with a .147 batting average. Through 32 games at the Triple-A level this season, he has eight homers, 27 RBI and a .254 average.
