Oilers vs. Golden Knights Betting Odds, Player Props and Picks for May 6
The Edmonton Oilers have had a knack for playing in high-scoring postseason games.
The over hit in five of Edmonton’s six first-round games. Since Mattias Ekholm is still out injured, the defense didn’t receive any improvements for the second-round series with the Vegas Golden Knights.
Vegas’ first-round series didn’t have the same level of offensive fireworks, but its superstar did show up to eliminate the Minnesota Wild and Jack Eichel comes into Tuesday with high expectations to excel versus the Oilers.

Jack Eichel Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-175)
Jack Eichel turned into the offensive force he’s supposed to be for Vegas at the start of Game 3 against Minnesota.
Eichel finished that series with four straight games with three or more shots on goal and a pair of multi-point games.
As Vegas’ best player, Eichel must step up to match what the Edmonton duo of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl do in the series.
Additionally, Vegas needs more out of Eichel on offense with Pavel Dorofeyev out injured. Eichel and Dorofeyev were the only Vegas players with over 200 SOGs in the regular season.
While other players will step up throughout the series, expect Eichel to carry on his production from the end of the Minnesota series in a matchup with Edmonton that has the potential to produce a ton of scoring chances.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins Over 0.5 Points (-120)
It’s very easy to just point to McDavid and Draisaitl as the must-bet players in the Oilers lineup.
A deeper dive into the team’s production suggests that the second line of Evander Kane, Zach Hyman, and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is worth considering for player props.
Nugent-Hopkins stands out in particular because of his four-game point streak and role on Edmonton’s top power play unit.
The 2011 No. 1 overall pick is an important passer to set up McDavid, Draisaitl and Evan Bouchard. He’s a better choice to record a point than Hyman, who also has five postseason points, because he and Corey Perry split time on the top power-play unit in the first round.
Nugent-Hopkins’ role is clearly defined at both even strength and with the man advantage, and if the top line can’t get going in a likely matchup with Eichel’s line, more importance will be placed on the second line to produce goals throughout the series.
Over 6.5 (-120)
Edmonton’s defense is a concern.
Five of the Oilers’ six first-round games featured at least seven goals, and in those contests, the Oilers conceded at least three times. The only strong defensive performance from Edmonton came in Game 5, when it held the Kings to one goal.
Vegas netted multiple goals in all of its six clashes with the Wild.
Edmonton’s struggles include dealing with Ekholm’s long-term injury. He is not expected to play in the second round.
The Oilers have the offensive talent to compensate for the concessions and that makes for quite the entertaining 60 minutes (or more) of playoff hockey.
