Updated 2025 NHL Mock Draft and Full Selection Order After Islanders Win Draft Lottery
The New York Islanders will get their pick of the 2025 NHL draft.
The Islanders jumped nine spots to claim the No. 1 pick in the upcoming draft during Monday's draft lottery.
The San Jose Sharks and Chicago Blackhawks both hold top-five picks for the third straight draft.
The Nashville Predators are in the top five for the first time since 2013, while the Utah Hockey Club jumped 10 slots to claim the first top-five draft pick in franchise history.
The leaps by the Isles and Utah mean a host of other teams, including the Philadelphia Flyers, Boston Bruins, Seattle Kraken, Buffalo Sabres, Anaheim Ducks and Pittsburgh Penguins, will need to reevaluate their approach to the draft after slipping down two spots in the order.
Here's a look at how the June 27 draft could shake out now that the lottery order is set.

2025 NHL Draft Analysis
2 of 2
The Islanders could target a potential No. 1 defenseman by drafting Schaefer, leaving the Sharks with the opportunity to set up Misa behind Macklin Celebrini as potentially one of the best young center duos in the NHL.
Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davison said he wants to take the "best talent there" in the draft. That could potentially set up Chicago to take Hagens, who has said he modeled his game after Patrick Kane growing up, with the No. 3 pick.
Utah could then snag Martone, who could add some size to a forward lineup currently led by smaller skaters like Clayton Keller and Logan Cooley.
The stakes are high for the Predators, who are in need of center depth and hold a top-five pick for the first time in more than a decade. McQueen is a 6-foot-5, two-way center who could draw the eye of Barry Trotz.
If the Preds decide to target McQueen, two top center prospects— Frondell and Desnoyers— could potentially fall to two more teams in need of depth down the middle in the Flyers and Bruins.
Injuries impacted top prospects including Schaefer, McQueen and Bear in their draft seasons, so teams' assessment of their health could impact how high they go in the draft.
If a player like Bear drops, a late-season riser like Soo center Brady Martin— pegged by WEEI's Scott McLaughlin as a player with a "lot of post-U18s buzz"— could potentially crack the top ten.
No goaltenders were taken in the first round of the 2024 NHL draft, but that could change this year thanks to WHL phenom Ravensbergen. The Capitals, one of the teams in need of goaltending prospect, could capitalize if the netminder is still available late in the first round.
There could still be movement toward the top of the draft order. The Rangers have yet to make a decision about their No. 12 pick, and will need to decide whether to give that selection to the Penguins or hand over a 2026 first ahead of the upcoming draft.
