Winnipeg Jets def. St. Louis Blues, 4-3
The Blues jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first period, opening the scoring just over a minute in with a backhand goal from center Jordan Kyrou.
The Jets responded in the second period with their first goal of the game by Cole Perfetti, but Radek Faksa fired back late in the frame, giving them a two-goal cushion and giving the Blues a 3-1 lead heading into the final 20 minutes.
Defense dominated the third period until the final two minutes, when Winnipeg’s Vladislav Namestnikov capitalized with a goal with 1:56 remaining while the team defended an empty net, igniting the home crowd and cutting the deficit to one.
Moments later, the Jets came inches from tying it up but were turned away by a clutch save. Moments later, with 1.6 seconds remaining, Perfetti delivered the equalizer—his second goal of the night and Winnipeg’s second in the final two minutes—forcing a dramatic overtime.
Winnipeg earned a power play in overtime but couldn’t capitalize with the advantage. Blues goalie Jordan Binnington stood tall with 11 saves in the period, while Jets netminder Connor Hellebuyck turned away four shots to help force a second overtime.
Just as the game seemed destined for a third overtime, Jets captain Adam Lowry ended the marathon with a clutch game-winner, firing the puck home with under four minutes left to seal the dramatic victory.
The Jets will face the Dallas Stars at home in Game 1 of the second round.
