The 10 Best NFL Schedule Release Videos of All Time
Thanks to social media, even something as basic as releasing the schedule has become a production around the NFL.
Sure, the objective is simple: List the order of the 17—or, in the past, 16—opponents we've already known a team will play. We don't really need to watch a short clip or an elaborate video to see a schedule.
But they certainly are fun.
Star players, team legends, celebrity fans and even franchise owners will appear in these videos. While the list is subjective—your sense of humor doesn't match mine—it's a lighthearted ode to creativity around NFL offices.
New York Jets Team Up with the Face of Nintendo (2018)
1 of 10
Three, two, one—go show us the schedule, Luigi.
In 2018, the famous character from Mario Kart sped around the track to help the New York Jets unveil their schedule.
Every time Luigi hit an item box, the course-specific music played as the traditional power-up block shuffled through team logos. I appreciate the video-game pause for New York's bye week, as well.
If only the Jets had cruised around the NFL like Luigi did around Koopa Troopa Beach. Instead, they finished 4-12 and last in the AFC East.
Atlanta Falcons Go to Westeros (2019)
2 of 10
Short, sweet and to the point.
In a one-minute clip, the Atlanta Falcons unveiled part of their 2019 schedule with an animation inspired by hit series Game of Thrones.
The video includes, for example, birds representing the Philadelphia Eagles and Seattle Seahawks flying toward Mercedes Benz-Stadium. For road games, the opponents—and their own stadiums—are preparing for battle.
Plus, there's a subtle reference to the missed penalty in the 2018 NFC Championship Game between the Los Angeles Rams and New Orleans Saints.
Atlanta lost the season war, though, ending with a 7-9 record.
Denver Broncos Have a Full House (2020)
3 of 10
This one hits you straight in the nostalgia.
Early in the social media schedule-release arms race, the Denver Broncos used the introduction from the iconic show Full House.
Melvin Gordon, a free-agent signing that offseason, moving boxes is a nice touch, and team legend John Elway makes an appearance on a scooter. Offensive lineman Graham Glasgow waving to the camera in front of screen with Graham Glasgow waving to the camera is a bit trippy, too.
Come for the music, stay for the thumbs-up. Thumbs-ups?
Kansas City Chiefs Show Off Andy Reid's Elite Press Conference Tactics (2021)
4 of 10.jpg)
In my humble opinion, self-awareness is an elite genre of humor—which brings us to the Kansas City Chiefs in 2021.
Longtime coach Andy Reid, if you didn't know, looks forward to challenge of playing your favorite team. You don't need to believe me, but taking a minute to watch this video may change your mind in a hurry.
As for the 16 remaining seconds? That time's yours.
Most opponents did not look forward to the challenge of playing the Chiefs, who secured a sixth straight AFC West crown at 12-5 and made the AFC Championship Game during the 2021 campaign.
Los Angeles Chargers Go Anime (2022)
5 of 10
Perhaps you liked the sequel a bit better. That's cool.
In terms of creativity, though, the original anime from the Los Angeles Chargers in 2022 is an easy inclusion.
The graphics take a jab at the Falcons squandering a 28-3 lead in the Super Bowl, quarterback Kyler Murray deleting posts referencing the Arizona Cardinals (and unfollowing the team during contract negotiations) and more.
Los Angeles ended up posting 10-7 record and making the playoffs.
Jacksonville Jaguars Flip the Script (2023)
6 of 10
Oh, you wanted to just see a schedule? No, my friend, buckle up.
Leaning into the conspiracy theory that the results of the NFL are scripted—which reminds me, I should be getting my manuscript here shortly—the Jaguars rolled out a full-on production in 2023.
Jacksonville even took a shot at former coach Urban Meyer, who memorably didn't fly back on the team plane following a game in 2021.
Bonus points for getting owner Shad Khan involved, too.
Pittsburgh Steelers Show Us How It's Done (2023)
7 of 10
Also in 2023, the Pittsburgh Steelers took us behind the (steel?) curtain to educate the masses on making an entertaining video.
Tight end Zach Gentry—or, uh, Billy—is disrupted from serving detention and forced to learn the tricks of the content-driven trade. Good thing, too, because he brings up the outlandish idea of merely printing and distributing the schedule.
That's enough out of you, Tommy. Bobby. Billy.
Undoubtedly fueled by this video, Mike Tomlin—splash—and the Steelers notched a 10-7 record and made the playoffs.
Tennessee Titans Hit the Streets (2023)
8 of 10
I understand "man on the street" videos can be overdone, but I will never not laugh at this one from the Tennessee Titans.
There's the Red Stallions (Falcons), Pirates from the Islands of the Caribbean (Tampa Bay Bucs), Chester Cheeto (Jaguars). There's two different people mismatching the Dallas Cowboys and Indianapolis Colts. There's the Pittsburgh Eagles, which would be geographically understandable...if it wasn't the Seahawks.
Just perfect. Thanks, Broadway.
Oh, the joy with which "Lightning McQueen" is said—I mean, seriously, please protect that woman at all costs. What a lovely soul.
Chicago Bears Channel John Hughes (2024)
9 of 10
Adams returned to the Bears' release in 2024, a four-minute video built on movie references—most notably one set in Chicago.
Narrated by actor Jake Johnson, the clip follows star receiver D.J. Moore around his own version of Ferris Bueller's Day Off. He manages to skip school and drive away—in a red sportscar, of course—toward the Chicago skyline.
Other lines and moments riff on Home Alone, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, The Breakfast Club, Mean Girls and more.
Caleb Williams, then preparing for his rookie campaign in the NFL, makes a brief appearance, excited for his freshman year.
The bad news is Williams stopped and looked around once in a while too often, taking an NFL-worst 68 sacks in a 5-12 season.
Buffalo Bills Give Us Josh Allen x Parks and Rec (2024)
10 of 10
Riffing on Parks and Recreation character Andy Dwyer, quarterback Josh Allen gave us a day in his imaginary Buffalo Bills life in 2024.
Cameras followed Allen to his makeshift tent, where he tends to his garden and draws up his favorite play—everyone go deep—before offensive lineman Spencer Brown ultimately reveals the team's schedule.
You probably know Allen as the superstar QB who's been in MVP contention for a half-decade and earned the honor last season, sure.
Between this video and a bunch more on Instagram, Allen clearly has a good sense of humor, too. Some people get all the luck.
