Jalen Milroe, Seahawks Agree to 4-Year, $6.26M Contract After 2025 NFL Draft

Adam WellsMay 20, 2025

Jalen Milroe is ready to get started on his NFL career after agreeing to his rookie contract with the Seattle Seahawks.

The Seahawks announced Tuesday they inked the quarterback to his rookie deal.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the contract was for four years and $6.26 million.

The Seahawks made Milroe the fourth quarterback off the board when they selected him with the 92nd overall pick in the third round. He is entering the league as one of the most exciting and intriguing athletes at the position.

B/R NFL scout Dame Parson wrote in his scouting report that Milroe compares to Jalen Hurts "with a jet pack & stronger arm."

The jet pack stems from Milroe showing off his 4.4 speed at Alabama's pro day in March. He ran for 726 yards and 20 touchdowns on 168 carries last season.

Milroe still has a lot of developmental work to do as a passer. Parson did note he showed "encouraging flashes of development as a pocket passer" in 2024.

Seattle has Sam Darnold in place as its starting quarterback after giving him a three-year, $100.5 million contract in free agency. The deal is structured in such a way that it wouldn't be hard for the Seahawks to get out of it after one season.

If the Seahawks coaching staff can help Milroe put all of the pieces together in the passing game, he could end up being one of the biggest steals in the entire draft.

It could take a year or two before Milroe is ready for a full-time role against NFL defenses, but the Seahawks have the pieces in place to give him that time. They could also utilize him in short-yardage and goal-line packages as a rookie to take advantage of his running ability.
