49ers 2025 NFL Schedule Released for Brock Purdy, Christian McCaffrey's Playoff Push
Following an offseason of significant roster turnover, the San Francisco 49ers are hoping for improved results now that they know what their 2025 schedule looks like.
On the heels of a disappointing 6-11 record last season, the 49ers saw a mass exodus of talent featuring several key contributors from their run of dominance from 2019 to '23, but there are still several marquee names on the roster ready to help San Francisco compete for a title in 2025.

Analysis
The 49ers' non-divisional opponents this season include the NFC South and AFC South. Since they finished last in the NFC West in 2024, they will also play the fourth-place teams from the NFC North, NFC East and AFC North.
That latter group includes the Chicago Bears, New York Giants and Cleveland Browns. The Bears certainly have playoff aspirations this offseason after hiring Ben Johnson and improving the offensive line in front of Caleb Williams.
They have the easiest schedule in the entire NFL based on opponents' win percentage from last season.
Projecting a team's future success based on what their opponents did last year doesn't always work out, but the last time the 49ers finished last in their division was 2020.
San Francisco followed up that season by going 10-7 to make the playoffs as a wild-card team, then going on a run to the NFC Championship Game before losing to the Los Angeles Rams.
That would be a lofty goal for the 49ers in 2025 given how much uncertainty there is with the roster now compared to four years ago, but this is a franchise with a track record of rebounding from seasons derailed by injuries.
Pivotal Matchups
The easiest way to win a division is by beating the teams in your division. That was something the 49ers were very good at in 2022 and 2023, when they went a combined 11-1 against the Los Angeles Rams, Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals.
San Francisco lost five of its six games against those three teams last season. It was the team's worst record against NFC West opponents since Kyle Shanahan's second season in 2018.
There are no obvious elite-level teams, outside of the Rams, on the 49ers' schedule to serve as a measuring stick.
If they want to make the playoffs in the NFC, beating teams like the Bears and Tampa Bay Buccaneers would go a long way toward keeping them out of some potentially tricky tiebreaker scenarios if the conference is as crowded in the middle as it was in 2024.
