Undrafted Free Agents 2025 Rumors and Predictions for Signed Players
The 2025 NFL draft is in the rearview.
The chance for teams to add young talent isn't over, though.
They can still sign players who weren't picked up during the annual talent grab, and many already have fleshed out their rosters or at least grabbed extra bodies for training camp.
We'll break down the latest buzz around undrafted free agents and predict what could happen for the players involved.
Ethan Garbers
1 of 3
The Carolina Panthers spent the 2025 draft making life easier on former top pick Bryce Young, adding playmakers like wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan, running back Trevor Etienne and tight end Mitchell Evans. They've since used the undrafted free agent market to flesh out the quarterback spot behind Young by adding former UCLA signal-caller Ethan Garbers.
The Panthers appear clearly committed to Young, and they have decent depth behind him with veteran Andy Dalton and former practice squad quarterback Jack Plummer. That doesn't bode well for Garbers' chances to crack the active roster, barring any injury issues, obviously.
That's perhaps just as well, since Garbers could use more seasoning. He only saw significant action over his last two seasons with the Bruins, where it was a mixed bag of results with some encouraging (27 passing touchdowns over that stretch) and others not so much (11 interceptions and 32 sacks taken this past season).
The Panthers still seem to think he might be a project worth undertaking, and there's a universe in which he pushes for QB3 duties with a strong showing at camp and in the preseason. That's not the likeliest outcome for his 2025 season, though.
Prediction: Garbers makes the Panthers' practice squad.
Traeshon Holden
2 of 3
Mock drafters often connected the Dallas Cowboys with wide receivers, sometimes as early as the 12th overall pick. In the actual draft, though, Dallas prioritized strengthening itself in the trenches early and wound up not using any of its nine picks on a pass-catcher.
Maybe that means a big year is coming for Jonathan Mingo, Jalen Tolbert or Ryan Flournoy. Or perhaps it leaves the door open for someone like Traeshon Holden to make an impact as an undrafted free agent. There are certainly things to like about his profile.
NFL.com's Lance Zierlein called Holden "a ready-made zone-better with above-average play strength and feel for space." The analyst also noted Holden checks the necessary boxes for height, weight and length but is "missing ideal speed."
Holden, who caught 17 touchdowns over the past three seasons, should feel decent about his chances to crack this roster. It obviously isn't guaranteed, but the obstacles in front of him aren't exactly enormous.
Prediction: Holden earns a roster spot as Dallas' WR4.
Xavier Restrepo
3 of 3
Xavier Restrepo certainly had good enough numbers to get drafted. He caught 69 passes for 1,127 yards and 11 touchdowns this past season and left Miami as the program's all-time leader in receptions (200), receiving yards (2,844) and receiving touchdowns (21).
He wasn't actually drafted, though, perhaps doomed by a dismal showing in the 40-yard dash at Miami's pro day (4.87 seconds). Still, that production matters, as does his connection with the Tennessee Titans new quarterback Cam Ward, the No. 1 overall pick who was reportedly "a major advocate internally" for the Titans to sign Restrepo as an undrafted free agent, per Fox Sports’ Jordan Schultz.
Despite Ward's support, Restrepo still faces a steep uphill climb to make Tennessee's roster. The Titans added two receivers at the draft—Florida's Chimere Dike and Stanford's Elic Ayomanor—and signed veteran Tyler Lockett before it. They also return the likes of Calvin Ridley and Van Jefferson.
Restrepo won't run away from the competition and given his level of production in college, he shouldn't. He still probably doesn't exit training camp with an active roster spot, but he is good enough for Tennessee to keep around.
Prediction: The Titans keep Restrepo on their practice squad.
