Jets 2025 NFL Schedule Released for Justin Fields, Aaron Glenn's 1st Season
The New York Jets are entering a new era once again after hiring Aaron Glenn as head coach and signing quarterback Justin Fields to replace the departed Aaron Rodgers.
Glenn and new general manager Darren Mougey will have their work cut out for them to turn the franchise around, but New York has enough talent to be competitive during the 2025 season. Any progress, no matter how minimal, will be welcomed by Jets fans who have been starving for some positivity for far too long.

Analysis
The 2024 season was yet another disappointment for the Jets that ended with a 5-12 record and included the firings of general manager Joe Douglas and head coach Robert Saleh. Having Rodgers for a full year wasn't enough to end the team's runs of nine straight losing seasons and 14 straight seasons without a playoff appearance, the latter of which is the longest active streak in the NFL, NBA, MLB or NHL.
The Jets have a schedule in 2025 that could create a path toward some surprising wins. New York's 2025 opponents combined for a winning percentage of just .460 last season, so the team won't be completely overmatched throughout the upcoming year.
The New England Patriots, Cleveland Browns, Jacksonville Jaguars, Carolina Panthers and New Orleans Saints all won five or fewer games last season. Even the Dallas Cowboys had a disappointing 7-10 finish to the year, while the Miami Dolphins and Atlanta Falcons also had losing seasons at 8-9.
Conversely, matchups against division-winning teams like the Baltimore Ravens, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Buffalo Bills will present challenges for the Jets. The Bills have a stranglehold on the AFC East with five straight division titles and remain one of the top Super Bowl contenders after falling short in the AFC Championship last season.
Still, there should be some cautious optimism that the Jets can string together some victories as they try to establish a new identity under Glenn.
Pivotal Matchups
It should come as no surprise that the most important games for the Jets will be against the Bills, Patriots and Dolphins. New York hasn't had a .500 record or better in the AFC East since 2015.
Buffalo remains one of the most dangerous teams in the NFL with reigning MVP quarterback Josh Allen leading the way. He was rewarded with a record-setting six-year, $330 million contract extension through the 2030 season that includes $250 million guaranteed.
New England will also look different under new head coach Mike Vrabel, who is taking over the development of second-year quarterback Drake Maye following his Pro Bowl rookie campaign. Miami is hoping to get a full season out of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, which would certainly boost its chances of returning to the playoffs.
Outside of the division, the Jets have interesting matchups against the Denver Broncos and Pittsburgh Steelers. New York is facing Denver for the sixth straight year and has developed an East-West rivalry, with the Broncos most recently earning a 10-9 win in 2024 with rookie quarterback Bo Nix leading the way.
The Steelers spent a large chunk of the offseason courting Rodgers, who remains unsigned. Fields spent the 2024 season in Pittsburgh and led the team to a 4-2 record in six starts before being replaced by Russell Wilson, giving him some extra motivation to show his former team what it's missing.
