Aaron Rodgers, Derek Carr's Best Landing Spots After 2025 NFL Draft
The NFL Draft is now complete, but the offseason is far from over as several teams still have questions to answer.
While a handful of teams addressed their quarterback needs through the draft, a few squads could still use someone under center. In terms of quarterback options, free agent Aaron Rodgers and New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr are near the top of the list in terms of what's available on the free agent and trade market.
Here are some possible landing spots for Rodgers and Carr.
Aaron Rodgers
1 of 2
Aaron Rodgers' New York Jets tenure was mostly forgettable as he missed all but a few snaps of the 2023 season before leading the team to a 5-12 record last year.
Still, it's clear Rodgers still has some football in him after throwing for 3,897 yards and 28 touchdowns in 2024. What team could be willing to take on the 41-year-old veteran?
Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers have been in the mix for Rodgers for most of the offseason and now appear to be one of, if not his last option.
Rodgers visited Pittsburgh in March and reportedly had a good visit, but ultimately opted to wait to sign with the team.
Even with the uncertainty, the Steelers adding Rodgers is still in play. The two sides are "continuing to maintain dialogue" as Rodgers decides what's next, per The Athletic's Dianna Russini.
Pittsburgh didn't take a quarterback through the first five rounds of the NFL Draft, instead taking Ohio State's Will Howard in the sixth round. Passing on some of the top quarterback options seems to indicate the Steelers are preparing for Rodgers to come to down at some point this offseason.
Derek Carr

Derek Carr's injury status is a big question mark heading into the 2025 season as the veteran is dealing with a shoulder injury that could keep him off the field this year.
The Saints used a second round pick to draft quarterback Tyler Shough, indicating they could try to move on from Carr via trade.
The unfortunate truth for New Orleans is that Carr likely doesn't have a ton of trade value given his injury and an expensive contract, but there are some teams that might be willing to make a deal this offseason.
Las Vegas Raiders
Perhaps the best move for Carr would be to go back to where it all started with the Raiders.
Las Vegas doesn't have a need for a starter at the moment after trading for Geno Smith, but it could use some depth in the quarterback room. The Raiders current back up is Aidan O'Connell, but after dealing with a few injuries a season ago, Las Vegas could benefit from signing Carr.
Even if Carr isn't healthy in 2025, he's under contract through the 2026 season, so the Raiders would have him as a second option next season.
Denver Broncos
Like the Raiders, the Broncos could benefit from adding a veteran to the quarterback room.
Denver's backup to Bo Nix, Jarrett Stidham, has played just 19 games across five NFL seasons, so there isn't much experience to be found for the Broncos. The Saints could potentially put together a deal that brings Stidham to New Orleans in return for Carr.
That would give the Broncos a veteran option and allow the Saints to move on from Carr's contract.
