Donovan Mitchell, Cavs Crush Heat in Game 3 as NBA Fans Eye 1st-Round Playoff Sweep
The Cleveland Cavaliers are one step closer to moving on to the second round of the NBA Playoffs.
The Cavs thrashed the Miami Heat 124-87 on Saturday to take a 3-0 series lead.
It was a win-by-committee game for Cleveland as six different players were in double figures with Darius Garland (toe) ruled out shortly before tipoff. Donovan Mitchell posted 13 points, Jarrett Allen had 22, Max Strus dropped 18 and Evan Mobley added 19.
De'Andre Hunter and Ty Jerome added 21 and 13 off the bench, respectively.
After a scoring outburst from Tyler Herro in Game 2, the Heat star struggled on offense on Saturday with just 13 points.
With Miami facing a seemingly insurmountable 3-0 deficit, Cavs fans are ready to bring out the brooms.
The Cavs were one of the best teams in the league all year, so their control of the series isn't much of a surprise. Still, it's impressive just how dominant Cleveland has been. Game 2 was somewhat close, but the Cavaliers have otherwise had no problems in Round 1.
Now, they can pick up the sweep on Monday and get some extra rest heading into the second round.
