Sanders also took to social media with a message:
The Colorado quarterback has been the biggest story of the draft, going unpicked through the first three rounds despite most expecting him to be a Day 1 pick.
Sanders was ranked as the No. 23 overall prospect, and the No. 2 quarterback behind top pick Cam Ward, on the final B/R 2025 NFL Draft Big Board.
He was projected by many mock drafts as a first-round pick after he completed 74.0 percent of his passes for 4,134 yards with 37 touchdowns and 10 interceptions during his senior season at Colorado.
The New York Giants traded up to select a quarterback at No. 25 late in Thursday's first round, but decided to target Ole Miss' Jaxson Dart rather than Sanders.
Sanders said in a video shared after Round 1 ended on Thursday night that falling out of the first round would add "fuel to the fire."
"We all know this shouldn't have happened. But we understand we're on to bigger and better things," Sanders said Thursday.
Baltimore Ravens quarterback and two-time NFL MVP Lamar Jackson famously slid down his own board to become the fifth quarterback, and final player, selected in the first round of the 2018 draft.
Sanders will now hope to find a similar trajectory despite a longer slide to at least the fourth round.
