Titans HC Doesn't Confirm Cam Ward as QB1 over Will Levis After NFL Draft, 'We'll See'
The Tennessee Titans made Miami quarterback Cam Ward the top overall pick at the 2025 NFL draft on Thursday. They aren't guaranteeing him a starting spot in his rookie season over incumbent Will Levis, however.
"We'll see," head coach Brian Callahan told reporters when asked if Ward will be the starter when the regular season opens. "We don't need to worry about that until September."
It would be an enormous red flag if Ward wasn't the Day 1 starter, however.

2025 Draft Picks Ready For Leap 🐸

Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
Generally speaking, quarterbacks drafted No. 1 overall are thrown into the fire immediately. But Ward is also competing against Levis, who has been a turnover machine in his short career.
In 21 career games across two seasons for the Titans, Levis has thrown for 21 touchdowns and 16 interceptions, completing just 61 percent of his passes. He seemed to take a step back last season, throwing 12 picks in 12 games.
In other words, if the Titans don't feel Ward gives them a better chance to win then Levis... well, that's a bad sign.
The chances of that happening, however, seem slim.
His new head coach certainly seems excited to get to work with him.
"Ward has a natural ability to feel space," Callahan told reporters. "He is an incredibly quick processor. He has size and athleticism. But the intangible part is what separated it for us. His work ethic is top notch, and he has a chip on his shoulder."
And Ward is ready to take the reins as the face of the franchise.
"I'm ready," he said on NFL Network's draft coverage. "That's all I've been dreaming for, was the opportunity to play in the National Football League and [the Titans] blessed me with it. So I'll make sure they get everything I've got."
