Warriors, Hornets Voted as NBA's Best, Worst Organizations in Player Poll

Mike ChiariApr 22, 2025

NBA players placed the Golden State Warriors and Charlotte Hornets on opposite ends of the spectrum as part of an anonymous survey this week.

According to Sam Amick and Josh Robbins of The Athletic, 21.9 percent of the 137 players polled named the Warriors the best organization in the NBA, while a staggering 38.1 percent of the 113 players polled named the Hornets the worst organization.

The dichotomy comes as little surprise since the Warriors have won four championships since 2015, while the Hornets have not reached the playoffs since 2016.

No organization has been more successful than the Warriors over the past decade with four titles, six NBA Finals appearances and eight trips to the playoffs during that time.

Also, the Warriors have produced surefire Hall of Famers in superstar guard Stephen Curry and head coach Steve Kerr, while Klay Thompson and Draymond Green are potential Hall of Famers as well.

Even with Thompson gone and both Curry and Green advancing in age, the Warriors remain highly competitive, going 48-34 this season to reach the playoffs.

A player had great things to say about the Warriors even aside from their winning ways, telling Amick and Robbins: "They were first-class. Steve [Kerr] came from San Antonio. He knew a lot of the principles. They do a really good job of taking care of the players and the families."

Each of the top six teams in the best organization voting reached the playoffs this season, as the Warriors are followed by the Oklahoma City Thunder (17.5 percent) Boston Celtics (15.3 percent), Los Angeles Clippers (8.8 percent), Miami Heat (5.8 percent) and Los Angeles Lakers (5.1 percent).

The Hornets are coming off a 19-63 season, marking their third straight losing campaign and their worst record since the 2011-12 season.

Charlotte has some young, talented players in LaMelo Ball, Brandon Miller, Miles Bridges and Mark Williams, but injuries were a huge problem this season, and the Hornets have not been able to put it all together.

In 2023, Michael Jordan sold his majority stake in the Hornets to Gabe Plotkin and Rick Schnall, and while they remain early in their tenure, early returns on the court have not been positive.

The Hornets were followed in the voting by the Washington Wizards (20.4 percent), New Orleans Pelicans (11.5 percent), Sacramento Kings (8.8 percent), Philadelphia 76ers (5.3 percent), Dallas Mavericks (4.4 percent) and Chicago Bulls (2.7 percent), all of whom missed the playoffs this season.
