However, this version of the Kings is arguably the strongest threat to the Oilers, especially at home, where the Kings went 31-6-4, the best home record of any team in the NHL.
Connor McDavid Over 0.5 Assists (-188)
You can only hope to slow down Connor McDavid.
He will make an impact on the series, but the Kings can mitigate that impact by clogging his path to the net and forcing him to be a creator and not a scorer.
A year ago, 11 of McDavid’s 12 points in the Kings series were assists.
McDavid finished the regular season with 10 points in April, all of which were assists. Since the Four Nations, McDavid recorded four goals and 25 assists.
McDavid is always capable of scoring on a moment of individual brilliance, but the numbers suggest he is far more likely to record an assist than score.
Adrian Kempe Over 2.5 Shots On Goal (-145)
Adrian Kempe has the most consistent shooting numbers of any player against his first-round opponent.
The Swede has three or more shots on goal in 20 of his 22 games against Edmonton. He recorded six SOGs twice against the Oilers in the regular season. He had four and three SOGs in the other two games.
Last postseason, Kempe totaled 21 shots on goal in five games versus Edmonton. He had three or more attempts on target in four of those five games.
Two years ago, Kempe had at least three SOGs in every one of the six games versus the Oilers.
Kings Moneyline (-130)
It’s hard to ignore just how well the Kings played at home in the regular season.
Earning the home-ice advantage in the series against Edmonton could be the X-factor that finally pushes the Kings past their Pacific Division rival and into the second round.
Los Angeles won both of its home regular-season games against Edmonton.
The Kings outscored the Oilers 12-4 across four regular-season meetings, with the only loss being a 1-0 defeat in Alberta on January 13.
