James Harden 'Trying to Figure Out What the Hell Was the Reason for' Clippers' 20 TOs

James Harden was confused by the Los Angeles Clippers' ball security issues during a 112-110 overtime defeat at the hands of the Denver Nuggets in Game 1 of their first-round playoff series.

"Like literally, trying to figure out what the hell was the reason for it," Harden said, per Clippers reporter Justin Russo. "So, we'll watch film, get better, and be ready to go for Game 2."

Los Angeles committed 20 turnovers, leading to 29 points by Denver on Saturday. Meanwhile, the Clippers scored just nine points off 11 turnovers by the Nuggets.

Turnover issues have plagued Los Angeles throughout the year. The Clippers averaged 14.9 turnovers per game during the regular season, the second-worst mark among teams to make the playoffs.

Still, they nearly emerged with a Game 1 victory on Saturday. A game-tying floater from Harden sent the contest to overtime. With the Clippers trailing by three points and 10 seconds remaining in OT, Nicolas Batum turned the ball over with an errant inbounds pass to Harden.

Harden still excelled despite the loss, scoring 32 points and 11 assists on 11-of-22 shooting. He only turned the ball over twice.

The main culprit for the Clippers' issues with giving possessions away was Kawhi Leonard, who committed seven turnovers compared to just two assists.

Los Angeles will look to bounce back in Game 2 on Monday at 10 p.m. ET.
