Jalen Brunson and the New York Knicks stepped up late to secure a 123-112 victory over the Detroit Pistons in Game 1 of their first-round playoff series on Saturday night.
The Knicks trailed 98-90 with just over nine minutes remaining in the fourth quarter but proceeded to go on a 21-0 run, taking a 13-point lead that the Pistons were ultimately unable to overcome.
Brunson struggled with his jumper in the first half but finished strong, ending the game with 34 points and eight assists on 12-of-27 shooting.
Karl-Anthony Towns recorded a double-double by scoring 23 points and pulling down 11 rebounds, while Cameron Payne chipped in with 14 points off the bench.
Fans were in awe of the late heroics from Brunson and the Knicks.
Cade Cunningham couldn't find any consistency throughout the contest. He finished with 21 points and 12 assists, but shot just 8-of-21 from the field and committed six turnovers.
The Pistons weren't able to maintain their fourth-quarter lead over the Knicks and ended up falling into a 1-0 series deficit.
