Russell Westbrook Says Job on Defense is to 'F--k S--t Up' After Nuggets Beat Clippers
Russell Westbrook says his role during Game 1 of the Denver Nuggets' first-round series was to cause chaos while defending the Los Angeles Clippers.
"My job is to be the low man and find ways to, excuse my language, f--k s--t up," Westbrook told reporters after the Nuggets' 112-110 overtime win against the Clippers on Saturday night.
With the Clippers trailing by three points and just under 11 seconds left in overtime, Westbrook forced a crucial turnover on James Harden.
Westbrook told reporters after the game he knew the inbounds pass play from spending his prior two seasons with the franchise.
The Nuggets forced a total of 20 turnovers on the Clippers, including seven on Kawhi Leonard.
Harden said after the game he was "trying to figure out what the hell was the reason" for the turnover total, per Clippers reporter Justin Russo.
"We'll watch film, get better, and be ready to go for Game 2," Harden said, per Russo.
That might involve finding an answer for Westbrook, who hit a three-pointer late in regulation to put the Nuggets ahead by two points. He then missed a final, and potentially game-tying, shot in regulation before earning redemption with his game-saving defense in overtime.
Westbrook finished Game 1 with 15 points, eight rebounds and three assists while recording two steals in 34 minutes on the court.
