Nico Harrison Called Out By Fans as Anthony Davis, Mavs Lose NBA Play-In to Grizzlies
The Dallas Mavericks were eliminated from playoff contention on Friday night, suffering a lopsided 120-106 defeat at the hands of the Memphis Grizzlies in the play-in tournament.
The Mavericks never led throughout the contest, falling in a 23-10 hole to start the first quarter that they weren't able to climb out of.
Dallas cut the deficit to seven points in the third quarter, but couldn't get any closer before Memphis stretched its lead to double-digits once again.
Anthony Davis finished with a game-high 40 points on 16-of-29 shooting, pulling down nine rebounds and recording two assists. He was hobbled throughout the game due to an apparent groin injury (via The Athletic).
No other Maverick was able to score 20 points.
Dallas owned a 26-23 record before general manager Nico Harrison made the shocking decision to trade superstar Luka Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for a package centered around Davis.
Fans and pundits called out Harrison during the Mavericks' postseason exit.
It's worth noting that Kyrie Irving wasn't available due to a torn ACL, but it was still a disappointing result for a Dallas team that advanced to the NBA Finals in 2024.
Now, the Mavericks will miss the playoffs after finishing the regular season with a 39-43 record.
