Cavs' Donovan Mitchell Reveals His All-Time NBA Starting 5, Includes LeBron, Kobe
Cleveland Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell unveiled his all-time starting five on Friday.
Mitchell chose Stephen Curry, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, LeBron James and Kevin Durant to round out his all-time starting lineup during an appearance on the New Heights podcast (1:02:55 mark).
Mitchell explained that his lineup didn't include a traditional center because he's playing "2025 basketball" and spacing the floor.
"Run and gun," Mitchell said. "We're running the floor. Pace and space, run the floor, that's it."
It's difficult to disagree with his choices, as four of his five starters rank within the top eight players on the NBA's all-time scoring list.
Curry is the only one that doesn't, but his four championships and two MVPs to go along with 11 All-Star nods make up an impressive résumé. He also has a large lead atop the NBA's all-time three-point field goals leaderboard.
As for Mitchell, the star shooting guard is in the midst of another strong year in Cleveland. He finished the regular season with averages of 24.0 points and 5.0 assists per game, shooting 44.3 percent from the field.
Mitchell has served as the leading scorer on a Cavaliers team that surpassed expectations this season, earning the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference with a 64-18 record while owning the best offensive rating in the association (via NBA.com).
Now, he's preparing for Cleveland's upcoming first-round playoff series.
