Pistons Restrict Ticket Sales for Knicks Playoff Series in Detroit, Says Ticketmaster
Tickets for the Detroit Pistons' home games during their upcoming first-round playoff series against the New York Knicks have been restricted on Ticketmaster.
Sales through Ticketmaster have been limited to "customers located in Michigan and certain parts of Ohio, Indiana, and Ontario, Canada."
A Pistons spokesperson told Stefan Bondy of the New York Post that the team isn't intentionally using the restriction to prevent Knicks fans from traveling to Little Caesars Arena (h/t SNY's Danny Abriano).
New York's fanbase has been known to travel to opposing arenas, especially during the postseason.
In the Knicks' six-game victory over the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round of the 2024 playoffs, 76ers superstar Joel Embiid told reporters he was "disappointed" with the amount of opposing fans in the arena following a Game 4 defeat.
Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin later announced that he was teaming up with 76ers governors Josh Harris, David Blitzer and David Adelman to purchase over 2,000 tickets for Philadelphia natives ahead of Game 6 of the series.
While Philadelphia is obviously much closer to New York and allows fans to travel easily compared to Detroit, it'll be difficult for Knicks fans to attend road games in their upcoming first-round series.
Both fanbases have been supportive leading up to the playoffs. The Knicks and Pistons rank No. 3 and No. 9 among NBA teams in 2025 total attendance, respectively.
New York finished the regular season with a 51-31 record, clinching the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference led by the star duo of Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns.
Detroit wrapped up an impressive turnaround after finishing with a league-worst 14 wins during its 2023-24 campaign, as Cade Cunningham blossomed into an All-Star and helped lead the Pistons to the playoffs as the No. 6 seed with a 44-38 record.
Game 1 between the Knicks and Pistons will be in Madison Square Garden on Saturday at 6 p.m. ET.
