JD Davison Lands Celtics Contract After Winning NBA G League MVP
The Boston Celtics are converting G League MVP JD Davison's two-way contract into a two-year NBA deal, ESPN's Shams Charania reported on Saturday.
The 22-year-old Davison, a former Alabama star, went 53rd overall in the 2022 NBA draft to the Celtics. He's played 35 games with Boston over the past three years.

Davison has seen limited time when called upon, averaging 1.7 points on 38.9 percent shooting in 5.2 minutes per game. He notably had a thunderous dunk in the final minutes of the team's 130-94 home victory against the Charlotte Hornets on Friday.
There's a lot of potential there, and his G League performance this year is certainly encouraging. In 30 games for the Maine Celtics, Davison averaged 25.1 points on 48.3 percent shooting, 7.6 assists, 5.3 rebounds and 1.5 steals.
Now the 6'1" guard is with the NBA team. He likely won't see much playing time (if any) in the postseason as the Celtics look to defend their NBA title, but it's certainly possible Davison could factor into the mix next year somehow after Boston inked him to a two-year deal.
