2025 NBA Playoff Picture, Standings, Bracket Predictions for Lakers, Warriors, More

Joe TanseyApr 12, 2025

The stakes could not be more different in the Eastern and Western Conferences going into the final day of the NBA regular season.

The top six teams in the East are set after the Milwaukee Bucks beat the Detroit Pistons on Friday.

The Western Conference could be poised for one final day of chaos on Sunday afternoon.

Four teams are within one game of each other in the race for fourth, fifth and sixth place.

There is more clarity about the West play-in race, though, with the Memphis Grizzlies locked into a play-in spot following their loss to the Denver Nuggets.

Eastern Conference

1 of 2
Milwaukee Bucks v Detroit Pistons
  1. Cleveland (64-17)
  2. Boston (60-21)
  3. New York (50-31)
  4. Indiana (49-32)
  5. Milwaukee (47-34)
  6. Detroit (44-37)
  7. Orlando (41-40)
  8. Atlanta (39-42)
  9. Chicago (38-43)
  10. Miami (37-44)

The East playoff field is set.

Milwaukee's win over Detroit ensured the Bucks would finish above the Pistons in the standings and keep the No. 5 seed.

The Bucks will face the Indiana Pacers in the first round, while the Pistons are destined for a matchup with the New York Knicks.

The Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics will wait for the results of the play-in round to learn their first-round foes.

The Orlando Magic and Atlanta Hawks will face off for the No. 7 seed. The loser of that contest faces the winner of the Chicago Bulls-Miami Heat game for the No. 8 seed.

Bracket Prediction

No. 8 Atlanta vs. No. 1 Cleveland

No. 7 Orlando vs. No. 2 Boston

No. 6 Detroit vs. No. 3 New York

No. 5 Milwaukee vs. No. 4 Indiana

Western Conference

2 of 2
Memphis Grizzlies v Denver Nuggets
  1. Oklahoma City (67-14)
  2. Houston (52-29)
  3. Los Angeles Lakers (49-31)
  4. Denver (49-32)
  5. LA Clippers (49-32)
  6. Golden State (48-33)
  7. Minnesota (48-33)
  8. Memphis (47-34)
  9. Sacramento (39-42)
  10. Dallas (39-42)

Denver's win over Memphis was Friday's most consequential result in the Western Conference.

The win kept Denver above the LA Clippers for the No. 4 seed and dropped Memphis into the No. 8 seed.

Denver finishes against a Houston Rockets team with nothing to play for, so the Nuggets should keep the No. 4 seed.

The Clippers' matchup with the Golden State Warriors will determine the rest of the Western Conference order.

A Golden State win would lock it into a top-six seed. A loss means the Warriors would be the No. 7 seed and host Memphis in the play-in round.

The Clippers would be the No. 5 seed with a win and Minnesota would be the No. 6, assuming the Wolves take care of the Utah Jazz.

The No. 9 and No. 10 seeds could change on Sunday if the Mavericks beat the Grizzlies and the Kings lose to the Suns.

However, it's unlikely that the Kings drop a home game against an already-eliminated Suns team.

The Thunder, Rockets and Lakers occupy the top three seeds in that order.

Bracket Prediction

Play-In Round: No. 10 Dallas vs. No. 9 Sacramento

Play-In Round: No. 8 Memphis vs. No. 7 LA Clippers

No. 8 Memphis vs. No. 1 Oklahoma City

No. 7 LA Clippers vs. No. 2 Houston

No. 6 Golden State vs. No. 3 Los Angeles Lakers

No. 5 Minnesota vs. No. 4 Denver
