After helping to lead Auburn to its second Final Four appearance in program history, star forward Johni Broome is ready to transition to the professional level.

Broome announced on Instagram that he is declaring for the 2025 NBA draft. B/R's Jonathan Wasserman ranks him as the No. 33 prospect in his draft big board and predicted that he would be the No. 32 pick by the Boston Celtics in his latest mock draft.

A fifth-year senior who spent the first two years of his college career at Morehead State, Broome made the most of his final season with the Tigers. In 36 games, he averaged 18.6 points, 10.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.1 blocks while shooting 51.0 percent from the field. He was named 2025 SEC Player of the Year and was among the finalists for National Player of the Year awards, though he fell short to Duke star freshman Cooper Flagg in most of them.

Behind Broome's special season, Auburn went 32-6 and achieved the No. 1 overall ranking in the 2025 NCAA tournament. The Tigers' season came to an end in a 79-73 loss to the Florida Gators, who went on to win the national championship.

Broome is a traditional big man who can dominate in the low post, but Wasserman noted that he can make himself a more attractive prospect if he adds a jumper to his arsenal.

"Projecting Broome to the next level, teams should be able to bank on him for low-post offense, second-chance points, passing and shot-blocking," Wasserman stated. "His usage, value and role ultimately changes if he becomes a more reliable spot-up or pick-and-pop three-point shooter."

Broome has until the NBA draft on June 25 to show teams that he can be a productive big man against professional competition.
