2025 NBA Playoff Picture, Play-in Standings and Bracket Predictions After April 8
The Western Conference standings experienced yet another massive shift on Tuesday night.
The LA Clippers are now on top of the heap of teams at 47-32 following their win over the San Antonio Spurs.
However, the Clippers might not be in the No. 4 spot for long given how tough their remaining schedule looks.
Golden State and Minnesota have the easiest finishes among the teams from fourth to eighth in the West. The Warriors seem poised to create some sort of separation before the regular season ends on Sunday.
The top six in the Eastern Conference is set as long as the Milwaukee Bucks win one more game.
The East play-in round seeds seem easy to figure out as well. The Orlando Magic are the No. 7 seed, while Wednesday's winner between the Chicago Bulls and Miami Heat will likely be the No. 9 seed.
Eastern Conference
1 of 2
- Cleveland (63-16)
- Boston (59-20)
- New York (50-29)
- Indiana (48-31)
- Milwaukee (45-34)
- Detroit (43-36)
- Orlando (39-40)
- Atlanta (37-42)
- Chicago (36-43)
- Miami (36-43)
Orlando and Milwaukee were the biggest winners in the East on Tuesday night.
The Magic all but guaranteed they would host any play-in games they participate in by beating the Hawks .
Orlando holds a two-game edge over the Hawks with three games remaining. The Magic and Hawks face off again on Sunday, but that game could be meaningless from the Magic's perspective if they beat Indiana on Friday to lock up the No. 7 seed.
Milwaukee is now two full games in front of Detroit for the No. 5 seed. The Bucks downed the Wolves on Tuesday night, and they could secure the No. 5 seed before they embark on a two-game closing stretch against the Pistons.
Milwaukee takes on New Orleans on Thursday, while the Pistons host the Knicks. A Bucks win and Pistons loss on Thursday would make the Friday and Sunday meetings meaningless from a seeding perspective.
Chicago and Miami meet on Wednesday to likely decide which team hosts the No. 9-versus-No. 10 play-in game. Both teams are expected to finish with two wins after Wednesday. The Bulls won both previous regular-season meetings.

Western Conference
2 of 2
- Oklahoma City (65-14)
- Houston (52-27)
- Los Angeles Lakers (48-31)
- LA Clippers (47-32)
- Denver (47-32)
- Golden State (47-32)
- Memphis (47-32)
- Minnesota (46-33)
- Sacramento (39-40)
- Dallas (38-41)
The Clippers shot up to fourth place with their win over San Antonio.
Of course, everything in the West could change with the swing of one result because of all the tiebreakers involved.
The Clippers are far from out of the clear since they close with Houston, Sacramento and Golden State.
Golden State is in action again on Wednesday against the Spurs. The Warriors blew out the Suns on the road on Tuesday night.
All eyes will be on Denver on Wednesday, though, after it decided to fire head coach Michael Malone. The Nuggets are on the road in Sacramento.
The Nuggets have a difficult closing stretch versus the Kings, Rockets and Grizzlies.
Golden State seems to be in the best position of the teams from fourth through eighth because it plays San Antonio and Portland before the regular-season finale with the Clippers.
Minnesota was the biggest loser in the West on Tuesday, as it fell to the No. 8 seed with its loss to the Bucks.
The Wolves and Grizzlies square off on Thursday in a game that could decide a play-in host, or be used as a catalyst to a top-six finish.
The Wolves really need a win over Memphis because they finish with Brooklyn and Utah. A three-game winning streak to end the regular season could do wonders for the Wolves' playoff positioning.
Memphis concludes the regular season with Denver and Dallas, so a win over Minnesota is needed to keep it alive in the hunt for a top-six spot.
