Luka Doncic's Game-worn Jersey from 2nd Lakers Game Could Fetch $100k+ at Auction
The jersey superstar guard Luka Dončić wore during his second game as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers is reportedly expected to fetch six figures at auction.
According to TMZ Sports, representatives from SCP Auctions have said bidding on the jersey is currently at $60,000, and it is believed the bidding will ultimately exceed $100,000.
The Lakers acquired Dončić in a shocking, blockbuster trade with the Dallas Mavericks on Feb. 2, and he went on to make his Lakers debut at home against the Utah Jazz on Feb. 10.
Dončić is currently planning to keep the jersey from his first Lakers game, per SCP Auctions, which means the jersey from his second game with the team is the earliest one available to potential buyers.
In Dončić's second Lakers game, L.A. fell 131-119 to Utah on the road. Dončić finished with 16 points on 6-of-13 shooting, plus four rebounds and four assists.
The Lakers are 14-9 in games Dončić has played since his arrival, and the five-time All-Star is averaging 26.8 points, 8.4 rebounds and 7.9 assists per game as a member of the team.
Overall, L.A. is sitting at 46-30 with six regular-season games to be played, which is good for fourth place in the Western Conference.
The Lakers lead the fifth-place Golden State Warriors by one game and the Memphis Grizzlies and Minnesota Timberwolves in sixth and seventh place by 1.5 games.
Remaining in the top six is key for Dončić, LeBron James and the Lakers since it would earn them instant entry into the playoffs rather than having to go through the postseason play-in tournament.
Dončić's play down the stretch will undoubtedly play a significant role in the Lakers' playoff seeding and whether they can go on a deep run and challenge for a championship.
Bidding on Dončić's jersey from his second Lakers game is set to end on SCP Auctions at 10:30 p.m. ET on Saturday.
