Giannis Excites Fans with Huge Triple-Double in Bucks' Win vs. Injury-Depleted 76ers
Giannis Antetokounmpo led the Milwaukee Bucks to victory over the Philadelphia 76ers with one of the most dominant performances in NBA history.
Antetokounmpo recorded 35 points, 20 assists and 17 rebounds in a 126-113 Thursday night win on the road.
He is the first NBA player to record at least 35 points, 20 assists and 15 rebounds in a single game.
Antetokounmpo already had 20 points, eight assists and seven rebounds at the half.
The Bucks star finished out the victory having shot 12-for-19 from the field and 10-for-11 from the foul line.
He also joined Scott Skiles and Guy Rodgers as the only three players in Bucks history to record 20 assists in a game.
The outing helped boost Bucks fans' hopes of making a playoff run despite potentially missing Damian Lillard, who has been sidelined by a blood clot issue in his right calf for Milwaukee's last eight games.
Other NBA fans also argued the outing should keep Antetokounmpo in the MVP conversation alongside other frontrunners like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Nikola Jokić:
The 76ers were playing hours after ESPN's Shams Charania reported Tyrese Maxey would miss the rest of the season with the finger tendon injury that has sidelined him since early March.
The Sixers, already missing Joel Embiid and Paul George to season-ending injuries, also played without Kyle Lowry, Kelly Oubre Jr., Andre Drummond or Eric Gordon.
Philadelphia currently holds the fifth-best odds at the top pick in the 2025 NBA draft, according to Tankathon.
Milwaukee spent most of the game without current Bucks coach and former Sixers coach Doc Rivers, who exited in the first half with an illness, per The Athletic's Eric Nehm. Lead assistant coach Darvin Ham coached the rest of the game as Rivers watched from the locker room, per ESPN's Tim Bontemps.
The Bucks improved to 42-34 with the win as the team's fight to secure the No. 5 seed in the East continues. Antetokounmpo and the Bucks have six games remaining in the regular season to beat out the Detroit Pistons for the spot.
