NFL Exec Bashes Josh Sweat to Cardinals, 'Do I Think Sweat is a Great Player? No'
At least one NFL executive doesn't believe the Arizona Cardinals are going to get great bang for their buck after signing defensive end Josh Sweat to a four-year, $76 million deal in free agency.
"Having that familiarity will help, but do I think Sweat is a great player? No," the executive told The Athletic's Mike Sando. "He helps them but doesn't move the needle a great deal."
The familiarity is that Sweat, head coach Jonathan Gannon and defensive coordinator Nick Rallis were previously paired in Philadelphia. And while Sweat was very good in his seven seasons with the Eagles, accumulating 43 sacks, he had just one season with double-digit sacks.

That is the mark of a good player, but perhaps one whose market was a bit inflated.
And there are other concerns.
"Sweat has been a really good, solid, steady player, but they will have to manage his knee?" another executive wondered. "Is he going to practice every day? There is so much risk involved already. Why compound it?"
