Donovan Mitchell, Cavs Wow NBA Fans in Comeback Win vs. KAT, Knicks amid Playoff Race

The Cleveland Cavaliers overcame a 15-point deficit and coasted past the New York Knicks 124-105 on Wednesday night at Rocket Arena.

The result adds to New York's terrible luck against the NBA's elite this year.

Cavs guard Donovan Mitchell scored a game-high 27 points to go along with six rebounds and five assists. Center Jarrett Allen chipped in with 21 points eight boards. Wings Isaac Okoro and De'Andre Hunter combined for 27 points off the bench.

It was a collective effort that propelled Cleveland to its 61st win.

The Knicks were shorthanded with star guard Jalen Brunson missing his 14th straight game. Because this was the second half of a back-to-back, New York also rested center Mitchell Robinson.

The talent gap between the teams became more apparent as the game unfolded. Robinson's presence was also sorely missed inside with the Cavs scoring 64 points in the paint.

For the home fans, the night was a bit of a roller coaster. The first half was exactly what you didn't want to see with Cleveland somewhat losing steam down the home stretch. Then it was a much different story in the second half. The Cavaliers' dominant performance in the third and fourth quarters was something to behold.

Cleveland should inch closer toward securing the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference on Friday night. The Cavs hit the road to play the San Antonio Spurs, who are riding a five-game losing streak.

The Knicks have a few days to regroup before they play the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday. For the most part, they're treading water until Brunson returns to the lineup.
