Former NBA star Carmelo Anthony has been notified that he's been elected into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2025, per ESPN's Shams Charania.

There once was a raging debate as to whether Anthony was deserving of the recognition of being a first-ballot Hall of Famer, but those discussions can now be put to rest.
A 10-time All-Star, Anthony was one of the greatest pure scorers the NBA had ever seen. He suited up for the Denver Nuggets, New York Knicks, Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Portland Trail Blazers and Los Angeles Lakers during his 19-year NBA career that began with him being the No. 3 pick in the famed 2003 draft class.
Anthony's 28,289 career points ranks 10th on the all-time list, and he had a career average of 22.5 points across his 1,260 games. He earned the NBA scoring title in 2013 after averaging 28.7 points per game.
While Anthony was never able to win an NBA championship, he was a winner at other levels. Before reaching the NBA, he led Syracuse to its first and only NCAA national championship in 2003 and was named the Final Four's Most Outstanding Player. He also helped lead Team USA to three Olympic gold medals, and at the time of his last Olympics in 2016, he was Team USA's all-time leading scorer.
Anthony can now add another accolade to his resume, as he will be a headlining member of the Basketball Hall of Fame class of 2025. He and the rest of this year's inductees will be formally recognized during this year's enshrinement ceremony on Sept. 6.
