NBA Icon Carmelo Anthony Reportedly Voted Into 2025 Basketball Hall of Fame Class

Longtime NBA superstar Carmelo Anthony has reportedly been chosen as a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame's class of 2025.

According to ESPN's Shams Charania, Melo was informed Wednesday that he was elected to the Hall of Fame on the first ballot.

Anthony was named a Hall of Fame finalist in February along with fellow former NBA players Dwight Howard, Buck Williams and Marques Johnson.

After winning a national championship and being named the Final Four's Most Outstanding Player in his only collegiate season at Syracuse, the Denver Nuggets made Anthony the No. 3 overall pick in the 2003 NBA draft.

Melo went on to star for 19 seasons in the NBA with the Nuggets, New York Knicks, Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Portland Trail Blazers and Los Angeles Lakers.

Anthony was a 10-time All-Star and six-time All-NBA selection, plus he won the 2012-13 NBA scoring title, and he was named to the league's 75th Anniversary Team.

For his career, Anthony averaged 22.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.4 three-pointers made and 1.0 steal in 1,260 regular-season games.

With 28,289 career points, Anthony is 10th on the NBA's all-time scoring list and 12th when taking ABA scoring into account as well.

Anthony never managed to win a championship or even play in the NBA Finals during his career, but he did plenty of winning on the international stage.

After winning a bronze medal with Team USA at the 2004 Summer Olympics, Melo won three consecutive Olympic gold medals in 2008, 2012 and 2016.

At the time of his final Olympic appearance, Anthony was Team USA's all-time leader in Olympic games played, points and rebounds.

The now-40-year-old Anthony has not played in an NBA game since 2022, but he left an indelible mark on the league due to his offensive excellence.

Melo was also part of arguably the greatest and most iconic draft class in NBA history, as he and fellow Hall of Famers Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, as well as future Hall of Famer LeBron James were among the top five selections.

Anthony will take his spot alongside Wade, Bosh and other legends of the game in September when he is officially inducted into the Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts.
